 Primary Care and COVID-19

Your Family Doctor is still available to meet your Health Care Needs
(by phone, virtual or in-person as needed)

  • If you are having ANY issues with your health, call your family doctor.
    • They can help with whatever ails you, not just Covid-19.

  • For life threatening emergencies
    • Visit the emergency department or call 9-1-1  IMMEDIATELY

  • If you have COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat, funny nose) :
    • Find out if you should be tested: Complete the online self-assessment at or call 811 and you will be referred for testing, if appropriate,
    • Phone your family doctor or Health Link at 811 for advice before visiting a hospital, lab or healthcare facility,
    • Call 911 if you are seriously ill and need immediate medical attention. Tell them that you may have COVID-19.

  • If you do not have a family doctor, visit or contact your local Primary Care Network.
  • Going for blood work? Contact your family doctor first to find out if you need to go now or should wait.
  • All health clinics and hospitals are taking necessary steps to reduce the risk of patients coming in contact with COVID-19.
